Sacramento Account Manager

Are you a strategic marketer who can lead clients, manage complex work and keep great ideas moving?

Creative Noggin is an award-winning branding and marketing agency looking for a full-time Account Manager in the Sacramento, CA area to help lead client relationships, guide marketing strategy and ensure the successful execution of integrated marketing plans.

This is not a passive project management role. And it is not a client service role where you simply take orders and pass them along.

We are looking for someone who can serve as a trusted client partner, understand big-picture business and marketing objectives, build smart plans, manage budgets and timelines, collaborate with internal teams and ensure high-quality work gets delivered on time and on strategy.

The right person is strategic, organized, proactive, analytical and comfortable being a highly visible client contact. You know how to build relationships, ask smart questions, manage details, solve problems and keep work moving without needing to be micromanaged.

If you want to make a difference and prefer to be measured by the outcomes you generate, we may be the agency for you.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as a key agency contact and trusted strategic partner for assigned clients.
  • Develop and manage strong client relationships with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Lead the development and implementation of integrated marketing plans, campaigns and client initiatives.
  • Translate big-picture client goals into clear strategies, scopes, timelines, budgets and action plans.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including creative, digital, media, content, PR, public affairs and leadership, to ensure seamless execution.
  • Manage client budgets, schedules, deliverables, meetings, approvals and expectations.
  • Develop and contribute to marketing plans, creative briefs, client presentations, campaign recaps and strategic recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to expand agency services based on client needs and business goals.
  • Monitor client satisfaction, project performance and account profitability.
  • Keep internal and external teams aligned, informed and accountable.
  • Lead client meetings, present recommendations and communicate clearly about strategy, next steps and results.
  • Get in the weeds when needed to ensure client work is moving forward and details are handled.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has approximately 10+ years of marketing experience, ideally with experience managing complex marketing plans, client relationships and cross-functional teams.

  • Experience working with public and/or nonprofit entities is ideal. Experience working closely with public relations, public affairs or community-facing initiatives is a plus.
  • Proven ability to develop client relationships and interact confidently with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong strategic marketing experience, including the ability to understand client goals, develop plans and guide execution.
  • Excellent project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, planning, follow-up and attention to detail.
  • A solid understanding of the creative development and production process.
  • Experience collaborating with creative, digital, media, content, PR and/or public affairs teams.
  • Strong business communication and writing skills, with experience developing marketing plans, creative briefs, client presentations, campaign recaps or similar materials.
  • Excellent verbal communication and client presentation skills. Public speaking experience is a plus.
  • Ability to learn, explain and confidently represent the agency’s capabilities in relation to client needs.
  • A self-starter mindset with strong follow-through, professionalism and personal accountability.
  • The ability to manage multiple clients, personalities, priorities and deadlines while maintaining calm and clarity.
  • A willingness to dig in, solve problems and perform whatever level of task is needed to ensure seamless execution.

You Might Be a Great Fit If…

  • You are part strategist, part relationship-builder and part air traffic controller.
  • You can see the big picture, but you do not miss the details.
  • You know how to lead clients with confidence, clarity and professionalism.
  • You can turn a complex marketing challenge into a clear plan of action.
  • You enjoy working with creative, strategic and highly collaborative teams.
  • You are comfortable managing budgets, timelines, scopes and expectations.
  • You take ownership, follow through and keep things moving.
  • You are energized by helping clients do smarter, more effective marketing.
  • You are not afraid to ask questions, challenge assumptions or recommend a better path forward.
